Variable Editions (V.E.)
Traditional art terminology for algorithmic artwork
Everything I create is one-of-a-kind. My works are generated from algorithmic systems I develop that explore an infinite range of possibilities within my aesthetic style. Each work is a unique output from that system.
In traditional art, an original is a singular work created by the artist. Editions are additional copies of a work, often produced as prints and offered in either limited or open quantities. This approach is also common in photography and digital media, where a single image may be produced as a numbered series of identical prints.
My practice follows a different model. Instead of reproducing a single work, I design algorithmic systems capable of producing many unique outcomes. Each work originates from the same underlying system but is individually distinct. For this reason, I define my work as Variable Edition (V.E.).
A collection represents a specific algorithmic system. Each edition is a unique output produced by that system. The result is determined by a seed - a numeric value that controls how the system runs. Each work has its own seed, and using that seed will always reproduce the exact same output.
Within this framework, I offer my work as Originals, Editions, or Systems.
Originals (#)
Curated outputs intended for collectors
In traditional art, an original is the singular artwork created by the artist.
Within my practice, Originals are curated outputs selected directly from the algorithmic system. Each piece is chosen to represent the collection and is produced as a limited physical work. These works are given additional care in their presentation, materials, and overall execution.
These works are signed, numbered, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that includes the seed used to generate the piece. They are generally produced at larger dimensions and higher production quality.
When collecting an Original, what you see is exactly what you receive.

Editions (∞)
Unique works generated from the same system
Traditionally, editions are reproductions of an original artwork.
Within my practice, Editions are not reproductions. Each piece is a unique output generated from the same algorithmic system as the Originals, allowing collectors to own a distinct result from the collection. Editions are offered without a fixed limit and are typically presented in smaller formats, making them more accessible while preserving their uniqueness.
Editions are typically pre-generated with light curation to ensure they meet the aesthetic standards of the collection. Physical works may be signed but are not numbered and may be produced for as long as the collection remains available.

ex: Entropy ∞ V.E.
Systems (∞)
The algorithmic system that generates the work
I also create works where the artwork is the algorithmic system itself rather than a single output.
These pieces may exist as custom hardware, software installations, or standalone digital systems capable of producing endless variations over time. A system may continuously evolve, generate new outputs indefinitely, or allow the collector to explore the full range of possibilities within the work.
In this form, the artwork is not a single image or print, but the living process that produces them. When produced as physical works, systems may be offered in limited quantities and marked similarly to Originals.

While this framework describes how my work is generally offered, each collection is built on a unique algorithmic system and may require slight variations in how the work is presented. Always refer to the description of each collection for details.
