Owen Moore (b. 1985) is an audio-visual artist based in Vancouver, Canada, working with code, sound design, and web-based technology. His work incorporates custom shader graphics, pseudorandom systems, soundscapes, and interactivity as core elements. He has been featured in the Art Blocks Curated collection and exhibited in Marfa, TX; Los Angeles, CA; and Vancouver, BC. At the heart of his practice is a passion for creative technology.
I work with code and machines to create art. I write programs that use randomness and branching logic to produce unique visual and sonic works. Rather than designing a single finished piece, I build systems that can generate many possible outcomes. I explore these systems through an iterative process, adjusting the rules, rendering techniques, and sound design until something emerges that feels meaningful. The works I release are captured moments within this process. From a single system, I may curate collections, generate raw outputs on demand, or present the work as an evolving experience.
I consider myself a multidisciplinary artist and enjoy exploring ideas across different mediums. I work with code and generative behaviours, and I’m drawn to the ways simple rules and systems can produce complex and unexpected results. I have always been fascinated by patterns, structure, and the relationships between small elements and the larger forms they create. When creating, I rarely imagine a final image or sound ahead of time. Instead, I focus on shaping the underlying rules that guide what can happen. Each work represents a single realization drawn from a much larger field of potential outcomes.
